Picardie occupies the centre ground between Paris and the eastern end of the English Channel. It is one of the oldest provinces in France and is steeped in history. With beaches in the north, and fields in the south, this region has lots to explore. The picturesque village of Gerberoy in the Oise is worth a visit, along with the gothic cathedral at Amiens, and the numerous chateaux, churches and abbeys in the region.
The weather in Picardie is much like the south of England. On average Picardie has 1,600 hours of sunshine each year. The mean temperature in summer is 16.5°c, and in winter it is 3.5°c.
